And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap...Galatians 6:9
Stewardship is about being grateful, responsible stewards of the gifts we receive from God. The tradition of giving back to God and to the church comes from the Biblical practice of "tithing," which means to give back a tenth of our earnings to God (Numbers 18:26).
The Episcopal Church sees stewardship as more than simply contributing money to the church; it's also about contributing time and talents, and volunteering for ministry and mission. It's about reaching out to build relationships from a perspective of abundance instead of scarcity. - from The Episcopal Church website
Parishioners are involved in many aspects of St. Mary's church life. They gather to welcome newcomers, greet old friends, discuss the latest news, formulate plans, develop yearly calendars, offer hospitality, visit the homebound, prepare the altar, all to do God's work in Stone Harbor and Cape May County.
Christian stewardship means the giving of our time, talent and resources to the Lord. If you'd like to get involved in the life of St. Mary's, reach out of our Rector or a vestry member. We welcome your time and talent!
SWEEP is not about cleaning and dusting, it is a group (open to all) that coordinates the many ministries of our parish— service, worship, education, evangelism, pastoral care.
Our next meeting: Wednesday, March 14, at 6:30 pm in the chapel.
