"Jesus said to them, 'Follow me and I will make you fish for people.'
And immediately they left their nets and followed him."
This group strives, not only to attract new members, but to incorporate them into the life of the church. Greeters welcome everyone at the Sunday services and distribute the service bulletin. The bulletin has the entire service so newcomers won't feel lost. Welcome packets are offered to first time visitors. Welcome letters are mailed to all new homeowners in our area, as well as first time visitors.
Our goal is to continue to make St. Mary's a warm and welcoming congregation. To this end, we try to insure that visitors and new congregants are recognized. Once a person joins St. Mary's, we encourage them to be involved in our parish life. A new member is welcomed with a home-baked loaf of bread and visit. We sponsor Church Greeters, photos of new members, and Worship at the Beach.
The committee is also active in welcoming the community at Christmas with cookies & hot chocolate on the front lawn. And with lemonade & pretzels when the Borough of Stone Harbor holds community events.
We provide baptismal gift bags for newly baptized infants and children. Each child is given a book, cd of lullabies & children's songs, a first Bible and a hand made blanket.
Foyer Group organizes members into informal dinner groups.
If you would like to become a registered member of our church, please let us know by e-mail or telephone; or you may fill out one of the visitor's cards the next time you come to worship, indicate that you would like to find out about joining St. Mary's, and place the card in the collection plate, or let our priest know of your interest.
